Romain is killing it this year and others might have to take note! If a group of three can make this in 3 days we all should feel lazy and unproductive, no more excuses.
We hope that between the 2018 Giddy’s and the other Batard projects that we might get one last thing after this one. And after that maybe a videographer of the year award? Who knows, “the sky is the limit”.
adidas’s big series of events in Paris also brought us a new video feat.: Lucas Puig, Heitor Da Silva, Magnus Bordewick, Kaio and a lot of others. Another video by Torsten Frank, who is really putting in work. Good Job!
You guys all know that we love Heitor but this video is about something else. Torsten Frank managed to get a couple of good MJ clips in Paris to our surprise and he’s looking pretty good on the board. There is still hope out there!
We have been told about this project a few months ago and seeing that it finally came together is amazing. Joseph Biais has been on top of the European scene for so long but he always kept it his secret. Here’s another Romain Batard concept film instant classic.
Our friends from Poetic Collective are presenting their second episode of “Triptych” and it is a good example of how to build a brand and keep the corporate identity. Poetic Collective is here to stay and it is different from all the other brands. Good job everybody!
At first when I started the Giddy series I wanted every one of them to have a different theme but in the end, I think they all end up looking almost similar to one another, same style of music same vibe.
Romain Batard is back with one of the most interesting video series in skateboarding. And ever since he delivered that quote in our interview with him he has been steadily delivering Giddy’s with a stronger sense of concept and individuality.
Steve Malet kills it in number 8! He is one of Paris’ most exciting skaters out there right now even though he is not even originally from France. But Steve is only one reason and this Giddy truly delivers from the skating, the editing, the song choice and the special effects. It is a good rounded out piece of work!
We are big fans of Oscar Candon and Futur. This is good and so is everything that Futur puts out.
Manuals are amongst the most difficult tricks to do on a skateboard. There are just so many variables, flip in, flip out, out of a slide. into a slide, or down something, over something and at no point can you scratch your nose or tail.
This video has some great ones, maybe Soy Panday inspired them to skate Paris this way.
Michi gets a bit political at the start but as the video progresses you slowly start to think “why aren’t more people skating these spots?”.
As always the skating is on point, the spots are crazy (a mini sphinx plus pyramids!?) and the song ties it all together. Enjoy another great episode of “Fishing Lines”.
Extended Play meaning:
1. extended play (record, tape, etc.)
2.an extended-play single, one of the formats in which music is sold, usually comprising four or five tracks.
Welcome to Cleptomanicx’s newest offering “Extended Play” which is aptly titled because it is in fact not a full length but also not a single.
It is a mid-length video created by Nizan Kasper who used musical terminology to give these 10 to 15-minute videos a suitable name. To strengthen the reference, he divided the project into a side-A and a Side-B with two “tracks” on each side.
Similar to an EP there is a single on this recording, and there are album cuts. Like the team montage, which features one of Denis Laaß’ best tricks ever, we guess the music reminded him of the 90’s and sparked something!
Another great album cut is Niklas’ 50-50, Nosewheelie nollie flip and David Conrads vert trick which came as a surprise to many.
But in the end, people often buy the EP to listen to the single and that single is Benny Vogel and Lars Zimmermann’s welcome part. Pop and creativity are what they bring to the table with a classic “Day before the premiere” type of ender. Let hope Hamburg is proud of what they achieved because this is not an everyday thing.

What is more Berlin then two brands who were founded and are still based in the German capital city? We are talking about Radio skateboards and Irie Daily celebrating their coming together with a collection based on Germans finding love in Paris. Enjoy!
What happens when a young Dutchman ventures out to the city of light? Depending on the time period multiple outcomes are possible.
In the 1920’s he could arrive to leave a famous artist, at the end of the 1960’s he could possibly be a part of the famed student protests, during the 90’s he could be part of some of the great fashion week shows. And nowadays he could film an entire montage with the local population, and that is what Ziggy Schaap did with the guys of HYskatebags.
After I have been absent for almost a year, I am more than happy to take up my work again at my beloved Placemag. And to start things off by posting a clip of my treasured friend Romain Batard is more than I could have asked for. As it is with every Batard-edit, Giddy #6 provides playful skateboarding at its best, where Romain makes even the smallest tricks look great through his classic Century MK1.

The “Paving Space” sculpture set is made by the French Raphaël Zarka, who also really wanted his pieces to be used with skateboards. Lucky enough there were enough willing skaters coming from Paris to try out the very interesting shapes of the objects standing in BPS22 Charleroi, Belgium.

When I got invited to go on this trip I can’t tell you how excited I was. It was a chance to go and meet some of skateboarding’s new faces. Not random new faces but people that are part of an important wave in our culture. These people have names, names like Savannah Stacey Keenan, Lacey Baker, Josie Millard, Charlotte Hym and Sarah Meurle, the latter I was less excited to meet because I knew her.
God! All of them are probably cringing while reading this, I know I am while writing it. But they are all worthy of praise because they are doing something important. I saw Josie struggle a bit when we were at the bar and some people came up and presented her with a fresh possibly alcohol infused dose of praise. Not because she wasn’t thankful but because it can be shocking to the person that is being praised to see the people they influence. Her voice was saying “Thank you, I really appreciate it” and her eyes were saying “Should we go back and meet up with the others?”.
I was hyped because the hype is real and all of these girls are really cool human beings.
Charlotte is working on her Ph.D., she is studying the effects of the mother’s voice on newly born babies. Savannah is into geography and fashion, Josie besides riding on the board owns a seriously beautiful motorbike and ever since this trip she is obsessed with doing long handstands. Sarah is studying fine art in Sweden, during this trip, she told me she used to be a Christmas tree salesperson in Canada “The best “real” job I’ve ever had”. Finally, Lacey Baker is always painting, drawing and trying to have Gaga moments, which basically means listening to Lady Gaga together and singing along. What more could you wish for?

Everybody knows Bill films for both his and Supreme’s Instagram, his music selection immaculate like that first Ghostface Killah album.
Before people took his videos and made the “strobeckouttakes“ series on youtube happen. It seems though that from now on we don’t need that because Mr. Strobeck remixed his own Tyshawn Jones footage.
Last week we celebrated the start of the 10-year anniversary of Nozbone’s Benchmark contest. Starting in Berlin and concluding last Sunday in Paris. And a sun-filled day it was. It felt like spring had hit us again for a day, which turned the day into somewhat of a festival.
With the mood set, let’s get into the skating. It was culminating in some amazing skating by people like John Purcell, Hugo Corbin, Giorgi Armani, Farid Ulrich and Nozbone’s own Marc-A Barbier who, in the end, took home the win.
We think Nike SB, Civilist, Nozbone and À Propos magazine did a great job this year and we hope to be back next year.
