Nick a.k.a. Mr. LurkNYC has been making videos like crazy! Every time he finishes one he seems to fine tune or change his style just a little bit. This full length video seems to be another culmination or a compilation showing the best side of the current style of LurkNYC videos, with that being said this video is very well balanced in both the skating, music and nostalgia departments. PLACE x Nike SB – Project DSS Launch Session
We are proud to announce that Nike SB and PLACE have teamed up once again and this one is special because of the launch of the Project DSS. “What is the Project DSS?” you might ask. Well Nike SB has collaborated with Yamato Living Ramps and 1. Berliner Skateboard Verein e.V. to expand one of Berlins most famous DIY spots “The Dog Shit Spot”. To celebrate the start of this project, we will host a couple events starting with the official Project DSS Launch Event on the 17th of May. The first event will be hosted by Civilist at the Pappelplatz skatepark.
You can expect cold drinks, a BBQ, and an open skate session, but most importantly, YOU the people can vote on obstacles that will be built at the spot. So if you care about skateboarding, voting, changing your city and having a good time, head over to Pappelplatz skatepark to participate in the Project DSS Launch event.

Us being the skate nerds we are we tend to follow all that is going on in skateboarding and to us it has become evident that in 2016 some of the best things are coming out of Canada. The country formerly know as the uncool cousin of the USA but now the times have changed and it is safe to say that edits like this have had their effect! No longer are the Canucks just famous for their denim, their long white tees or the Red Dragons, they are now also known for their high quality skateboarding, good trick selection and consistently showing us the fun side of skateboarding (think DIME MTL). Crawlspace is not only a great title for a video project it is also simply a good video with nice music and tricks from our favorite snowboarder Jed Anderson. Enjoy!

When we were in Russia working on our PLACE PROJECT RUSSIA issue we saw and heard about a lot of people. One of those people was Dmitry Zabozlaev a.k.a. Dimzerz. Now if you pay attention to our Instagram and Thrashers Skateline you might have seen him pop up on your screen. He is a big part of the new generation of young skaters and filmers who are creating in their own style, the cool thing about this movement is that there seem to be no borders for them. They all know each other via the internet and they feed of each others momentum, style and tricks. That doesn’t mean that there is no Russian flavor to what Dmitry is doing it means that the focus lies on looking outward instead of staying in their own clique and looking inwards. We asked Dimzerz to write a small text to go along with this online premiere of his new video “Troica”. Enjoy.
The Filming process for “Troica” was very interesting and fun for me and although my VX1000 sometimes didn’t work and glitched a lot, I still love it and think this is still the best camera to capture skateboarding with.
We’ve been filming for “Troica” from March up until November 2015. The video was shot in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, just traveling from spot to spot with the gang trying to get clips. Unfortunately for me, there was nobody who could really film me, so most of the time I had to stay behind the lens. In the end I did managed to get a couple clips anyway here and there (laughs).
For both filming & editing I take my inspiration from a lot of independent VX filmers that I am subscribed to on YouTube, people like Matt King, Gene Belanger, Jackson Casey, Antosh Cimoszko and Leon Rudolph.
We found the name “Troica” by accident. One day the guys and me were chilling at Dilip & Philipp’s place and wanted to give our crew a name. They found an old Trofim’s tumblr and it was called “Troica”, they really liked the name and stared using it everywhere. Me personally, I think that “Troica” just sounds cool (laughs).
“Troica” features : Dilip Kharel, Philipp Kharel, Trofim Ovchinnikov, Andrey Kotlyarovsky, Dmitry Zabozlaev, Vladislav Baranov, Rodion Yusupov, Gleb Bukhgolts and some Friends. The video has a special appearance from Marcel Burkhart (aka sk8ordont), it was really fun to meet and skate with you dude!

Rest In Peace – Prince
Damn it is a bad year for music! After Bowie’s death earlier this year, we found out today that one of musics best ever has passed away. Prince was famous for many things, changing himself into a symbol, his androgynous outfits, his public fight with Sinéad O’Connor, The Chapelle show but most of all he will be missed for his incredible aura and his unsurpassed live performances. How Prince died is uncertain but what is certain that his music will live on and because of that we would like to celebrate the good times he gave us and pay hommage to him in our own style enjoy!

Franz Grimm – Monnem Longa
It is no secret that we love Franz’s skating, he is one of those people who just has his own way of doing things. We met him in paris during our cruising sessions and he surprised us many times with his skating and his demeanor. Surprisingly Franz is not French and even though his name might suggest that he is in fact German he told us that he felt like he was neither. He is a natural on the board and it shines through both in this clip and in our Paris issue.

Most Things Haven’t Worked Out – Nolan Waller
Not much going on on the European front today so we checked out what our Canadian colleagues were up to and this Nolan Waller’s part is what we found. Nolan delivers a sweet but short part featuring one of our favorites Dustin Henry the whole thing is well worth a watch.

What happens when you send a Ozzie skate team out to Japan? The security guards come out, you sing karaoke and you film a great video. The Pass~port visual department deserves some extra credit for this one, great fucking work mate!

To be honest we could have posted this video just for the first track alone, London seems to know what is what when it come to spots, music and good skating. Besides that recent trend forecasts seem to indicate that you can once again end a wheelie anywhere you want and get away with it.

Filmer Richard Quintero was so kind as to make this little clip of Bobby and Zered skating through Barca. Although it is only one minute long it is still a perfect clip to spark your Sunday skate sesh.
Vincent Touzery – Instagram part
Making an Instagram remix is like making a mixtape for somebody you like. Whether you are sitting by your tape recorder or you are scrolling through the gram, it is a tedious process done with love for the subject. In the end the only difference is that with the IG compilation the result is on the net for everybody to enjoy.
Vincent Touzery has been killing it lately and Quartersnacks said it best “There are a handful of Bloby Instagram compilations out there, but this new one of Vincent Touzery is the best Bloby IG comp out there.”

It has been quiet around David Gonzalez lately but that is about to change. Globe just released this clip celebrating the release of his 3rd pro model shoe and let us not forgot the Volcom video is right around the corner. Up until that moment comes this clip has enough tricks to hold us over.
Question Mark – Takahiro Morita
If you do not know about the Far East Skate Network also known as FESN you have been sleeping under a rock! FESN has played a major role in pushing the Japanese skate scene.
They helped create Overground Broadcasting a 2008 skatefilm that has some prophetic parts. Most of Takahiro’s projects show you a different frame of reference, connecting colors, actions and images in a new way.
Ever since Magenta entered the skate scene Takahiro has started to frequent our western screens more and more, one thing always stands out, his sign! It says: MY FRIEND. From the moment you come in contact with the sign and the message it carries you start to think. So when we had the pleasure to exchange e-mails with Mr. Morita we could not resist to ask him about his moving message:
How did you get the idea for the MY FRIEND sign and do you travel around the world with it or do you make them on location?
My answer is the following:
I think my skating represents a message to the society around me.
I think my tricks, speed and my style of skating could be the message to skaters and non-skaters.
There is a thing that I realized through filming for years.
I realized that I have affected skaters that I’ve never met to a certain degree, by filming my friends and getting the footage out there.
And by making skate videos, people that I had never met started to visit me.
And they became my friends.
A person that I respect once told me, “Be nice to friends, then that energy will become the power to make the world better.”
The MY FRIEND sign is for the person who’s reading it.
So it’s not MY FRIENDS, it’s MY FRIEND.
PS – The MY FRIEND sign can be folded up and I always bring it with me every time I travel.

Happy 50th Birthday Vans
Today is the day that Vans turns 50 years old. In that time the company has left a clear mark on our favorite pastime. I don’t think there is anybody reading this that did not have a pair or is not thinking about getting a pair. After all these years Vans’s classic silhouettes are amongst the most timeless when it comes to both the design and the performance part of todays skateboard shoes.
On March the 16th in the year 1966 the Van Doren Brother started the Van Doren Rubber Company which over time morphed into what we now know as Vans. The company has been a succes from the start and we believe it is not going anywhere soon! To celebrate that succes Vans is hosting an event today at the Titus store in Berlin. Prizes can be won and waffles will be both skated and eaten check the video for some further history lessons and check the flyer for more info on the celebration.
